Why remove wisdom teeth?
Wisdom teeth develop on the upper and lower jaws, between the ages of 17 and 25. If you develop one or more impacted wisdom teeth, they may have to be extracted if they result in problems such as pain, tooth decay, infection, gum disease, trapping food, or causing damage to nearby teeth or surrounding bone. The removal of impacted wisdom teeth occasionally requires a surgical approach that involves making an incision in the gum tissue and removing bone.
