Management & Support Staff

SR JULIE COLMAN
CLINIC MANAGER

Sr Julie Colman qualified as a Registered Nurse with midwifery in 1989. Before joining the clinic, she had experience in casualty and ICU at Somerset Hospital and Christian Barnard Memorial (previously known as City Park) in Cape Town. She joined the clinic in 1996 and for the past 24 years has played an integral part in the growth and success of the clinic.

When she joined the clinic it ran on a much smaller scale, and in different premises. Along with six nursing staff members, including herself, the clinic was moved to new, renovated premises where it is currently located today. It has grown into a much bigger establishment with a substantial increase in the size of the team.

ABOUT
MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT STAFF

DEDICATED TO CARE AND SAFETY
Staff are chosen for their values and willingness to be part of the team, says Sr Colman, who adds that delivering the highest standards of care and safety is of the utmost importance.

All our registered nurses are certified in advanced cardiac life support and all other staff are certified in basic life support.

HIGHLY EXPERIENCED THEATRE STAFF
“We not only provide a service to our patients but also to our visiting surgeons, who have the benefit of experienced theatre staff, enabling them to work in a stress-free environment,” says Sr Colman. “From the cleaners to the theatre sisters, each member of staff is part of a well-oiled machine, a team that’s as close knit as a family.”

Sr Colman has a keen interest in patient safety and providing a low-risk environment where infection rates are low and complications minimal. “We owe this to the patients who enter our establishment,” she says.

“We are licensed by Department of Health,” she adds, “And governance includes belonging to the NHN (National Hospital Network) and the DHA (Day Hospital Association) of which we are members. We are also in the process of being internationally recognised by the American Association of Day Hospitals.”
